EVOLUTION ELECTRIC STATION - Solutions for Electric Mobility (Part 7)
Can I use the normal household power socket?
Yes, but only occasionally and still being very careful.
Domestic systems and electrical outlets are designed to have peak powers of up to 3kW but only for short periods of time (think, for example, of a hairdryer or an oven, they are switched on for minutes or a few hours). The electric car is true that it must be seen as a normal user, but has some characteristics different from the others, because it has a high power used that lasts for several hours.
In the long run with these conditions, the normal household outlet could collapse with consequent safety problems.
In this regard, the competent bodies also recommend the installation of dedicated charging stations.
In addition, they are with Mode 3 charging stations ( see our previous article ), I can receive incentives for purchase and installation. Household adapters (Mode 1, Mode 2) are therefore excluded.
